This FormaFlex Corporate Finance for Non-Financial Managers – Level 2 programme is designed for managers and decision-makers who want to go beyond the fundamentals and reason with the key concepts of corporate finance. It shows how finance informs strategic decisions, integrating the dimensions of cash, risk, return and value creation.
Analyse a decision using key financial indicators (net income, cash flow, financial structure).
Interpret financial statements to identify performance, liquidity and risk drivers.
Compare projects or decisions on a risk/return basis.
Assess whether an activity, project or decision creates or destroys value for the company.
Build a financial argument in the manner of a CFO or an investor.
Programme
Session 1 — Finance as a decision-making tool
Live class: the role of finance, value creation, the CFO's role, conflicting objectives (growth, profitability, liquidity, risk), equity vs. debt, investors, introduction to risk. Followed by digital learning module 1 (3 sequences, 8 videos, quiz).
Related coursework: guided discussion on project trade-offs; case study of a profitable company under cash strain.
Session 2 — Reading and understanding financial statements
Live class: income statement, balance sheet, cash position, working capital requirement, and the link between net income, investment and cash flows. Followed by digital learning module 2 (3 sequences, 7 videos, quiz).
Related coursework: case study on growth and cash-flow strain.
Session 3 — Risk, time and required return
Live class: time value of money, discounting, specific vs. market risk, diversification, required return. Followed by digital learning module 3 (3 sequences, 6 videos, quiz).
Related coursework: trade-off between projects with different risk profiles.
Session 4 — Value creation
Live class: cost of capital, value creation/destruction, intrinsic and comparables-based valuation, synthesis. Followed by a final digital learning module with a competency-validation quiz.
Related coursework: integrative case study and debate on “value creation or performance illusion.”
